Guilford, Connecticut - Newbridge Academy, proud members of the East Coast Elite League (ECEL), is pleased to announce that 16U Defenseman Nicholas Savoie has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Providence College Friars for 2021-2022.  Providence College is a member of the Hockey East Conference and won the 2015 NCAA National Championship.

The commitment comes shortly after the ECEL Beantown, held in Boston just a few short weeks ago.  The event brought in over 200 scouts from every level that included Providence College and others that were able to watch Savoie closely and other players in the league.

"This is  a great accomplishment for Nick Savoie and the Newbridge community. The Newbridge coaching staff and their players bring another level of professionalism to ECEL league and I am happy for their success." Said ECEL President, Peter Alden

Savoie, who hails from Diepee, New Brunswick, has 3 points (all assist) in 7 games for the ECEL 2017-18 season.  The two way defenseman has been crucial to Newbridge’s success as the team first in ECEL 16U standings to date.  Savoie's commitment is Newbridge's first of the season, under head coach, Olivier Filion.
