ECEL Expansion

April 5, 2019

Guliford, Conn., - The East Coast Elite League (ECEL) is excited to announce that our Board of Directors has approved the Tahoe Prep Academy to join the ECEL for the 2019-2020 season. The Tahoe Prep Academy will add their 18U Prep team into the ECEL league under the direction of Leo Finn and Chris Collins.

With this addition, they will be the second team from California in the ECEL as they join the California Jr. Reign. "We are so delighted to expand into the West Coast market.  The Tahoe Prep Academy staff brings a high level of professionalism and their program is breaking the mold of a typical prep or youth program." said President of the ECEL Peter Alden.

The school was founded in 2016 by Leo Fenn, Mike Sechrist, and Michael Lewis. Leo Fenn is well known in Southern California hockey as he has been coaching hockey all over Southern California. He has coached the Jr Kings, JSerra a Catholic high school in Southern California, and the Jr Ducks.

The Tahoe Prep Academy’s hockey program is the west coast's first residential boarding school dedicated to the sport of ice hockey.  The Tahoe Prep Academy incorporates a 10 month training regimen upon entry into the academy. Students move into the academy in August and with the exception of holidays, film, competition and travel days are on the ice daily.

With this expansion, the ECEL has rapidly expanded within the last two years. The ECEL has added 15 teams in that time period. As a result, Commissioner Alden is really excited to see what the future holds. "Our growth has been amazing to see especially the last two years, our members and I are very excited to work with great operators and feel the level of competition is excellent." added Alden.

The Tahoe Prep Academy provides an all-inclusive program for athletes in grade 9th through 12th. The boarding school offers state of the art facilities coupled with a rigorous academic curriculum that enables students the best chance of preparation for NCAA institutions.
