Guliford, Conn., - The Mercer Chiefs are one of the top programs along the east coast that have joined the ECEL for the 2019-2020 season.

The Mercer Chiefs have been nationally recognized for years and with Rob Broderick's leadership and professionalism, they look to take another step as a program this season. This is based off one model according to head coach of the U18 Rob Broderick. “We are looking to be the best team we can be and to move our midget players to tier one and tier two junior programs,” said Broderick.

They have a plethora of talent spread out through each age group. At the U18 level players that Boderick said you have to keep an eye on are Sean Grant, Jake Puskar, Ryan O’Connell, Will White, Luke McNamara and brothers Tom and Nikita Pryymak. Players at the U16 level that stand out include Sal Zotti,Nick Dimatos, and Anthony Sclafini.

Building strong culture has been a strength of Broderick and he has been able to establish just that, with the Mercer Chiefs. He builds this culture by teaching his players how to come together as one unit through good and bad times.

“I like to think my teams get stronger as the season progresses, and we stick together during the tough times,” Broderick explained. “I always remind my players I will find out more about them in tough times than easy ones, and they will do the same about me.”

This program looks to make a statement and compete for the ECEL Cup and look to win titles at all three levels. That campaign starts on Friday, October, 11 as the U18 Premier play the New Hampshire Avalanche. While the U18 Elite plays in-state rival New Jersey Titans in our game of the week for that division on Saturday.

In the U16 Premier Division, the Chiefs will open with Elite Hockey Program on Saturday, October 12. At the U16 Elite Division, they will open with the NJ Titans. While at U15 they will open with the Seacoast Spartans.
