June 21, 2021, Guilford, Conn. - The East Coast Elite League (ECEL) and its Board of Directors are happy to announce that the league will welcome the Protec Jr. Ducks into the ECEL starting with the 2021-2022 season.

ECEL President Peter Alden is happy to welcome the Jr. Ducks into the ECEL family.  “We are excited to have the Jr. Ducks join us in the ECEL this Fall,” said Alden. “When we look to add teams into the league, we look to add programs that can help make the league better and more competitive for the rest of our members already in the league. When we looked at the Jr. Ducks 16U team, there is no question, they will add excitement and competition to our events. They’re looking for more exposure, and they’re going to get it here.”

Barry Dreger, Head Coach for the 16U Jr. Ducks, stated: “The Protec Jr. Ducks are very excited to be participating in the 2021-22 ECEL Season. The ECEL has a reputation of hosting very competitive and well-run events at great venues. Ultimately, the quality of competition and the level of scouting attracted us to the ECEL – our players grow and excel when challenged, and we strongly feel the level of competition the ECEL offers aligns with our strategic goals for our teams. We look forward to competing this season.”

The Protec Jr. Ducks will join the ECEL with their 16U Premier team led by Barry Dreger, for upcoming season. The hockey club was purchased in 2020 by Pascal Magnollay, who then purchased the formally known Junior hockey team, the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). The organization was brought to central New Jersey to create a new home for ambitious hockey players with the goal of developing successful scholar athletes at the collegiate level rebranding the organization as the Protec Jr. Ducks. This year along with their EHL team, the Jr. Ducks are happy to have a 16U midget team serving as a premier development path for the EHL.

We are excited about welcoming the Jr. Ducks into the ECEL for the upcoming season. We look forward to seeing what they will bring to our league for the future.
