June 23, 2021, Guilford, Conn. - The East Coast Elite League (ECEL) and its Board of Directors are happy to announce that the league will welcome the American Hockey Academy into the ECEL starting with the 2021-2022 season.

ECEL President Peter Alden is happy to welcome the academy into the ECEL family This is an extremely exciting day for the ECEL and the future of our League, welcoming American Hockey Academy. This is really what our brand is looking for, adding a strong Academy that combines academic and hockey excellence. AHA has the resources, personnel, training, and commitment to build the culture and the organization that will help set their players up for success.  Alden added, "We want to connect the AAA model and Academy teams in our league and work collaboratively together to give our players a platform to showcase themselves."

18U Head Coach, Russell DeMariano is looking forward for the opportunity his teams have going into this season. “American hockey Academy is pleased to join the ECEL. With the leadership and ownership of the front office of the league and the proven stiff competition and successful other member organizations, it was a no brainer out of all the leagues to choose the ECEL. We are thankful for the invite and excited to get going, and to show that we belong and will be a tough organization to play against.”

The American Hockey Academy will join the ECEL with their 18U & 16U Premier teams lead by Russell DeMariano, for upcoming season. The Academy is located minutes from downtown Boston in Braintree, MA. They are one of few hockey academies in New England that offer both high-end hockey skills and a high-level academic experience. They have joined the acclaimed CATS Academy of Boston which is an elite private school located in Braintree, MA as well. "American Hockey Academy is proud to have partnered with CATS academy of Boston.” DeMariano is proud to say that “Cambridge arts technology & sciences is a world renowned brick and mortar boarding school here in New England. There are 6 campus for CATS worldwide with this being only one in North America. With small class sizes of 8-1 student teacher ratio, with a 90% international student body of about 300 students, we thought it was a perfect match for our student athletes at AHA. They not only get 3x the amount of hockey playing a full season schedule and 3 hours of ice a day, our players get exposed to some of the best professors, a unique eclectic mix of student peers, on a beautiful 3 acre campus with brand new dorms with their own private rooms and own private bathrooms. It's a perfect match for us and for the school to bring in some tremendous student-athletes."

We are excited about welcoming AHA into the ECEL for the upcoming season. We look forward to seeing what they will bring to our league for the future.
