04/05/2016, 2:30pm EDT

The East Coast Elite League (ECEL) has announced that the California Wildcats have been accepted as new member of the ECEL 16U Division for the 2016-17 season.

This is a great addition to the ECEL line-up of teams for the 2016-17 season. The current membership stands at 10 different organizations and 17 teams. Addition teams and event schedule for the 2016-17 season will be posted in the near future.

“The addition of the California Wildcats really makes our league stand out.  The Wildcats join the Colorado RoughRiders as one of two teams from the Western half of the United States in the ECEL. The ECEL is proud to bring in such a high quality organization and we are excited to see them compete against the great competition here on the East Coast,” Said Program Director, Peter Alden.

The Wildcats organization, which is located in Riverside, California, has a strong tradition and fields a variety of teams at several levels. Along with the 16U Midget Tier I team that will compete in the ECEL, the Wildcats also have a strong showing at the younger levels. The Wildcats have a strong reputation of advancing hockey players to the Junior and NCAA levels.  Joining the ECEL will give the Wildcats exposure on the East Coast and will open many more doors for the California hockey players.
