December 16, 2016,

Guilford, Conn., - Newbridge Academy U16 standout goaltender Oliver Troop has been drafted and signed to the Quebec Ramparts in the QMJHL! Troop takes up the majority of the 4x6 with his 6'7" frame. In Troop's most recent effort in the East Coast Elite League, he gave up one goal in a 1-0 OT loss to 16U heavyweight Boston Advantage. Oliver made 47 saves on 48 shots, most of them being quality scoring chances, but fell short as the lone Boston Advantage tally came in overtime. Nonetheless, Troop has the size and ability to steal a game and this has landed him a spot on one of the worlds most famous junior teams.

ECEL President Peter Alden had this to say about Oliver; "Troop is a very talented goaltender. Watching him stand tall, literally and figuratively against the Boston Advantage in Hingham was more than impressive. Oliver was playing out of his mind, the only goal he gave up was a perfect play in the 3v3 overtime resulting from an offensive Newbridge rush turning into a 3 on 1 back at Troop. Tic-tac-toe passing from Boston would have beaten just about any goalie in that position. Troop has great size and you cannot teach that. We wish Oliver the best of luck and are excited for what lies ahead for this young man."

The entire ECEL organization wishes Oliver the best of luck as he dresses for the Quebec Ramparts tonight,12/16 & tomorrow 12/17!
