ECEL Welcomes the Mercer Chiefs for the 2019-20 Season

Guilford, CT February 22, 2019- We are happy to announce that we will welcome the Mercer Chiefs to the ECEL for the upcoming 2019-2020 season.

The Mercer Chiefs are an organization that is from New Jersey. This program is one of the best programs on the east coast. "We are excited to welcome this program to the league, they will help evaluate our league to a new level," said Peter Alden President of the ECEL. 

They are not only a team that is a youth hockey organization but have affiliates in junior hockey. The owners of the Chiefs are owners of the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL, a team in the NAHL and EHL that will be in Maryland. 

This team has most recently sent alum Ross Colton to the NHL when he signed with the Tampa Bay Lighting and signed a two-year deal in the summer. He spent the previous two years at Vermont and now has 20 points in 46 games as a rookie for the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL. 

Founded in 2013, the East Coast Elite League is a four-weekend showcase series that will provide maximum exposure for its member organizations and their players, by playing in top venues, in ideal scouting locations. Spread across the U15, U16, and U18 divisions and represented by several of the top hockey organizations across the country, the ECEL is the premier showcase series in the United States, unmatched in its format and exposure opportunities.
