ECEL Expansion

February 28, 2019

Guilford Conn., - We are going to need some passports as we are heading up north to welcome the Ontario Hockey Academy (OHA) from Cornwall, Ontario to the East Coast Elite League (ECEL).

"The Ontario Hockey Academy is extremely excited to be joining the ECEL league in the U18 tier I division for the 2019-20 season.  The quality of competition, coupled with the geographic location of the showcase events will serve to offer our student/athletes maximum exposure to a variety of Junior A team as well as NCAA programs." Said OHA Boy’s Hockey Director, Patrick Turcotte

The Ontario Hockey Academy is a High Performance Academic-Athletic private school that is a very significant program when it comes to developing players and those players reaching the next levels of hockey. This program has produced players that have gone on to the World Juniors, BCHL, NCAA, and the QMJHL. Among these players, they have seen two alumni win the Memorial Cup the top prize in major junior hockey in Canada.

"This marks another strong program that the ECEL will add from Canada," said President of the ECEL Peter Alden. Patrick Turcotte is one of the prime reasons OHA has become one of the great hockey programs in North America and we are excited to welcome him and his program."

Founded in 2013, the East Coast Elite League is a four-weekend showcase series that will provide maximum exposure for its member organizations and their players, by playing in top venues, in ideal scouting locations. Spread across the U15, U16, and U18 divisions and represented by several of the top hockey organizations across the country, the ECEL is the premier showcase series in the United States, unmatched in its format and exposure opportunities.
