Guilford, Conn., – The first showcase of the year was nothing short of a success. The league host, Long Island Rebels dominated the weekend finishing #1 overall in the 16U Division with a 4-1 record with their only loss coming in overtime vs Atlanta Fire. The Atlanta Fire looked in mid-season form already, coached by Curtis Morrison finished with a perfect record on the weekend at 4-0. New members Wilmington Nighthawks capped off the weekend 3-1 with their only loss coming Sunday to the strong Rebels team.

In the 18U division action, The New Hampshire Mountain Kings put on a great performance although finishing 2-2. The Northern Cyclones matched the Mountain Kings record at 2-2 and are currently tied for first. Last but not least, ECEL League veterans, Ontario Hockey Academy put on a great showing, despite their record and will be coming back strong for the Holiday Classic.

Overall, the Fall Classic was a very successful event as we went up to the Empire State for the event. We wanted to extend a thank you to our host rink Clark Gillies Arena at Dix Hills and their staff for making a smooth and successful weekend.

ECEL League Director, Caroline Fitzgerald thought that the event went very smoothly and was a great event for players and fans all together. “The first event of the season was action packed and full of exciting moments at both levels.”  We can’t wait to see how the teams continue to improve moving ahead into the early winter as we have our next event at the state-of-the-art Lovell Arena in Boston, MA.

The ECEL showcase series continues November 1-3 at Lovell Arena in Rockland, MA.  For more information, on the East Coast Elite League and opportunities to play in the league, please email Administration@ECELHockey.com.
